Mondillo Pinot Noir 2020, Central Otago NZD $48

This pinot noir was 100% destemmed, fermented by indigenous yeasts and aged for 11 months in French oak barrels, 30% new.

A dense, ripe and concentrated pinot noir with cassis, dark cherry, floral/violet aromas and a hint of spice/anise. A vibrant wine that is deliciously drinkable now but should age well. It opened up as it sat in the glass, and deserves to be aerated. (Screwcap)
