Mondillo Olive Oil is a deep lemony colour, is rich, silky smooth, buttery, sweet, with a hotness at the end palate, and a thick viscosity. The perfect oil for dipping and cooking.
The Mondillo Vineyards was established in 2000 with the first wine vintage in 2004.
Mondillo Vineyards encompasses three large rolling terraces at Bendigo, the warmest sub-region in Central Otago. On the middle terrace sat the perfect piece of land for an olive grove! Being a winemaker/chef, and Italian, developing a wine brand was only part of the dream, the other part was producing great olive oil.
In 2006 we planted 67, already established, 8 year-old, Frantoio Olive trees. This classic Tuscan variety is fabulous for olive oil! The fruit is small to medium in size, oval in shape, deep purple-black colour and has a nutty flavour when picked.
100% Pure Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Mondillo Olive Oil is cold pressed and uses only the first press for our oil. Mondillo Oil is produced in limited quantities, using our Frantoio olives only.
