Mondillo Rosé 2017

$28.00
Vendor: Mondillo

Unavailable

A lusciously refreshing wine with aromas of strawberry, raspberry and watermelon combined with a cherry finish.

Mondillo Rosé contains 100% Pinot Noir grapes from a defined parcel of the vineyard grown specifically for our Rosé. The single clone selected offers this wine red fruit flavours with a mid palate lusciousness and fruit sweetness. Left on the skins for 48 hours to establish the vibrant cerise-pink colour. The 2017 Central Otago growing season was a challenging vintage with lower yields than expected due to a cooler summer, however this has resulted in wines with great concentration and fabulous flavour. A smaller quantity of wine will be available from the 2017 vintage so be quick!

Drink/Cellar: Now until 2019

Perfect for any event, celebration or dinner party over the summer months. Enjoy with salads, grilled prawns, salmon, risotto, rock melon & prosciutto!  Serve chilled.

Cameron Douglas MS, 93/100
“Pinot Noir based, cranberry red core colour with aromas and flavours of Pinot Noir – light red fruits laced with a soft minerality of stone and rock, a hint of lees and packed with vibrato from refreshing acidity and a crushed fresh berry fruit flavour package. A delicious wine and well suited to aperitif drinking and food of all kinds, nicely dry finish. Best drinking from now and through 2019.”

Raymond Chan, Five Stars
“This has a fresh, bright and fragrant nose with aromas of vibrant red cherries, and raspberries and cream, along with a subtle amalgam of soft herbs and red florals, and a suggestion of confectionary. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has a sweetly rich and gently concentrated core of raspberries and cream with cherry notes, entwined with red florals and subtle notes of mouthwatering fresh herbs, unfolding a hint of confectionary. The fruit flows along a fine, dry-textured phenolic threaded line with balanced acidity, leading to a lingering finish of raspberries and cream. This is a fresh, vibrant, aromatic dry rosé with flavours of raspberries and cream on a softly concentrated palate with mouthwatering herb and textural elements and a hint of confectionary.”
