Mondillo Nina 2019

$38.00
Vendor: Mondillo

Available

Concentrated aromas of peach, citrus, honey and floral fruits. A softly concentrated wine, perfectly balanced, with a lingering apple finish. Enjoy!

Nina contains 100%  Riesling fruit, and is only produced in years that natural botrytis occurs. Each grape cluster is carefully chosen and picked by hand to ensure that the best botrytis berries are selected.

Our 2019 vintage contains 60% botrytis affected fruit after a cool spring, with above average rainfall, followed by a long warm summer which produced low yields of concentrated fruit. It was a long wait until the botrytis set in and the Nina fruit was hand-picked mid-May. Only a small amount of this wine is available: 980 bottles.

Alc: 9.8%, RS: 147 g/l, TA: 7.5, pH: 3.15

Our ‘Nina’ Late Harvest Riesling is named in tribute to Domenic’s late mother Giovanina - a wonderfully sweet Italian lady; affectionately referred to as ‘Nina’.

Drink/Cellar: Now until 2025

Serve chilled with soft cheeses, dessert, as an aperitif or as dessert!

Michael Cooper - Five Stars / Gold

A lovely, late harvest style, the 2019 vintage was made from Riesling, hand-picked at Bendigo. Bright, light lemon/green, it is invitingly scented and light-bodied, with pure, vibrant, peachy, slightly citrusy and appley flavours, abundant sweetness (147 grams/litre residual sugar), and excellent delicacy, depth and harmony. Already delicious, it should be at its best 2022+.
