Mondillo Pinot Noir 2017

$48.00
Vendor: Mondillo

Available

Elegant, ripe Pinot Noir with cherry, plum, a hint of oak, a savoury complexity and a velvety finish. Enjoy - Salute.

The 2017 Bendigo growing season was very cool with low yields which lead to fruit with wonderful concentration.

The fruit was hand harvested, 100% de-stemmed followed by a long cold maceration, fermented slowly and gently pressed. It has been aged in French oak barriques, of which 30% were new for 10 months.

Drink/Cellar: Now until 2024

Serve with beef, stuffed eggplant, rich tomato/mushroom based recipes, pork and lamb dishes.

Barcode Graphic 750ml: The Tasters

Michael Cooper, 5 Stars
Already delicious, this rich, savoury, supply Bendigo red was estate-grown and barrel aged for 10 months. Deeply coloured, with fragrant, berryish, spicy bouquet, it is a powerful, sturdy wine, with generous, ripe cherry, plum, spice and nut flavours, finely integrated oak, good complexity and a well-rounded finish. Best 2021+

Bob Campbell, MW – 95/100 Points, 5 Stars
Deeply-scented Bendigo pinot noir with ripe plum, spice, thyme, dark cherry and a suggestion of violet. A rich warming wine – you can practically taste the sunshine. Silken-textured, long and seamless.

Mark Henderson, Wine Reviews – Excellent 5 Stars
Intense, sweetly-fruited nose with liqueur fruits, berry compote and spice. Dark cherry and dark fruits are a foil for the charry oak, savoury, earth and wild herb notes add interest. A bold, ripe and powerful style with an almost southern Rhone perfume.

Cameron Douglas, MW – 95/100 PointsComplex bouquet and complex wine. Aromas and flavours of dark cherries and dried raspberry, black currant then wood spices and a core of crushed rock minerality. Tense, poised, ripe fruited and dry on the palate. Firm tannins and medium+ acidity set the foundation with berry rich flavours and a floral top line above. Best from late 2021 through 2028+.
